FMCG
Manufacturing
The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, is one of the largest industries worldwide. FMCGs are generally cheap products that have a short shelf life, and are purchased by consumers on a regular basis. Profit margins on these products are usually low for retailers, who try to offset this by selling large volumes. The FMCG sector comprises a large variety of products, with some of the most important categories being food, beverages, personal care products, and home care products. Within categories, FMCG products are often near-identical, and for this reason price competition between retailers can be intense. To boost profitability, companies use marketing and other techniques to establish loyalty to the product, which enables them to charge higher prices. Another important characteristic of the FMCG sector is that it generally does well in an economic downturn, with consumers rather cutting back on luxury products.
Naka Naka
Naka Naka is a manufacturing company of the Aura Group, established very recently in 2019 in order to capitalise on high demand for affordable Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) at household level. Located in Harare's industrial area of Graniteside, the company currently has 2 product categories (food and household products) which include concentrated drinks, tissue, dish washing liquid and laundry bar soaps.
Whilst the current operating environment in Zimbabwe is extremely challenging for manufacturing companies, in recent years there has been an aggressive push by Government to reduce imports, increase local manufacturing and create employment. In the hope that the economy turns around in the near future, we are well positioned to capitalise on increasing local and regional demand, to which we are committed to slowly increasing product lines and capacity in order to compete with more established local manufacturers.
